Hi there!
My name is Chloe, and I am an accredited dog trainer with the Dog Training College. I am also studying my level 5 diploma in canine behaviour with the ISCP (International School of Canine Behaviour and Psychology) to become an accredited canine behaviourist.
I have always loved dogs from a very young age, having grown up with my border collie, Tony, I always wanted to work with dogs. When I brought home my second border collie, Bailey, I thought everything would be plain sailing...
After being attacked by several dogs as a puppy and then seeing owners become violent towards their dogs to punish them for attacking him, Bailey has become fear-reactive to certain dog types/breeds and is fearful of being touched by strangers. He also started performing those famous collie behaviours - chasing cars, herding cyclists and runners, etc....
I was way in over my head and didn't know how best to help Bailey. I felt like I was failing him. I went to a couple of trainers/behaviourists and was recommended aversive methods that punished him for acting out by inflicting pain or discomfort.
I knew these methods were far from the right way to help Bailey feel safe and secure again. So I found the Dog Training College and learned how to train dogs using kind, positive methods grounded in understanding and compassion.
I have learned how to read canine body language and how behaviour is affected by many factors, including rest/sleep, diet, exercise (mental and physical), early experiences, illness and disease, and the nervous system and physiological processes within the body.
Now, I am running my own dog training business, hoping to help owners and dogs like Bailey and me with training that empowers and builds confidence on both ends of the leash. We also now have Popsie, our amazing miniature poodle girl and Bailey's favourite playmate.
